Applications are invited for appointment to the post of Director General, National Museum, New Delhi in the Pay Band Higher Administrative Grade (HAG) Rs 67000/- (annual increment @ 3%) - 79000/-, General Central Service, Group ‘A’ Gazetted, Ministerial under Ministry of Culture by deputation or on contract basis.

2. The eligibility conditions, qualifications and experience required for the post and other details are given in Annexure-I.

3. The maximum age limit for appointment by deputation shall not exceed fifty six years as on the closing date of receipt of applications.

The maximum age limit for appointment on contract basis shall not exceed sixty seven years as on the closing date of receipt of applications.

Appointment on contract basis shall be for a period of three years and may be extended subject to satisfactory performance and maximum age limit of seventy years.

In case of appointment on contract basis, the terms and conditions of service of the incumbent of the post shall be as applicable to a Group ‘A’ officer of the Central Government holding analogous post.

4. Applications (in duplicate) in the enclosed proforma (Annexure-II) of the eligible officers who can be spared in the event of their selection may be sent through proper channel before 30th Nov.2009

(i) Up-to-date CR dossier of the applicant or clear photocopies of the ACRs for last five years duly attested by a Group ‘A’ officer.
(ii) A statement showing major or minor penalties, if any, imposed on the officer.
(iii) Integrity Certificate.
(iv) Vigilance clearance in respect of the officer.
(v) Cadre clearance in respect of the officer.

Applications received after the last date or otherwise found incomplete will not be considered. The officers who apply for the post will not be allowed to withdraw their nomination subsequently.

Duties and responsibilities of the post : To direct activities of the museum in scholarly research, exhibitions, interpretation, administration with emphasis technical museological aspect of the work. Co-ordination, supervision of departments and specialization in the common aims of developing exhibitions, collections and programmes for the educational and cultural benefits of scholar, students and the general public.
7. Educational qualification and experience : Essential:(i) Master’s degree from a recognized University or equivalent; in Museology or History of Art or History or Sanskrit or Pali or Prakrit or Persian or Arabic or Archaeology or Anthropology or Fine Arts or Chemistry,(ii) fifteen years’ experience (including research work) in Museology or History of Art or History or Sanskrit or Pali or Prakrit or Persian or Arabic or Archaeology or Anthropology or Fine Arts or Chemistry out of which five years’ experience shall be in the administration.Desirable: Bachelor’s Degree in Management from a recognized University or equivalent.
8. Source of Selection : I. Deputation Officers under the Central Government or the State Government or Union territories or public sector undertakings or Universities or recognized research institutions or semi-Government or statutory and autonomous organizations:
